Celebrating 14 Days of Love as we approach Valentine’s Day with verses from the Bible about love…

DAY 6:  Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds.     – Hebrews 10:24  (NASB)

Today’s verse comes from the Book of Hebrews which is believed to have been written just 30-40 years after the days of Christ.  The author was offering words of love and encouragement because it wasn’t easy being one of the first Christians.  They had been raised with different beliefs, practices, and ways of worship, so they were adjusting to a new religious lifestyle.  They also faced threats of severe persecution from Romans.  Knowing some Christians were struggling, the author of Hebrews wrote to remind early Christians of the superiority of Christ, assure them that he was their Messiah, and to encourage them to remain strong in their Christian beliefs.  Then, in the verse above, the writer acts in Christian love to encourage fellow Christians to help each other by thinking of ways to stimulate love and good deeds.

The New Living Translation (NLT) Bible says it this way:

Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds.   – Hebrews 10:24 (NLT)

This translation says we should encourage “outbursts” of love and good deeds! Can you imagine people going around having outbursts of love and good deeds?  What a positive difference that could make in our world!

Today, as we proceed through 14 Days of Love, let’s consider ways we can stimulate love and good deeds among others.  Perhaps that can best be done by demonstrating our own acts of love and good deeds – maybe even displaying outbursts of love and good deeds!
