Have faith in the Lord, your God, and you will be upheld…        ~ 2 Chronicles 20:20

Sometimes it’s interesting how the significance of  the numbers of a Bible address relate to the verse itself.  2 Chronicles 20:20 is a perfect example.

Seeing 20/20 means that a person has perfect vision, that he/she sees clearly with no blurriness or trouble focusing.  The truth of 2 Chronicles 20:20 is perfectly clear. It tells us that if we have faith in the Lord our God, we will be upheld.   The NLT version says it another way, “Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be able to stand firm.”  What a great encouragement!

The passage for this verse reads:

Early the next morning the army of Judah went out into the wilderness of Tekoa.  On the way Jehoshaphat stopped and said, “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be able to stand firm.  Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” …The king appointed singers to walk ahead of  the army, singing to the LORD and praising him for his holy splendor.  This is what they sang:   “Give thanks to the LORD; his faithful love endures forever!”   At the moment they began to sing and give praise, the LORD caused the [other] armies to start fighting among themselves…they (the other armies) turned on each other.

Reading the entire passage shows us the Lord knows the battles we face.  When we keep our faith in God and offer Him praise (even in tough situations),  He will face our battles with us and leave us victorious.

What battles do you face today?   Whatever it is, look ahead with eyes of faith and remember the words of 2 Chronicles 20:20.  Then you will be seeing with 20:20 vision.
